What is the definition of absolute? The dictionary defines absolute as a value or principle that is regarded as universally valid or that may be viewed without relation to other things. In simpler words, it means something which isn’t dependent on anything else. Since Krsna is the Absolute Truth, everything that refers to him or spoken by him is also Absolute. So Krsna’s name is also absolute as Krsna Himself. Hence, devotees who are in full consciousness of Krsna chant Krsna’s names and perform all activities that are prescribed by the Vedas.
Srila Prabhupada says, “Lord Krsna says that karma-jam buddhi-yukta. Now, here is an opportunity for you. In human form of your life, you have got sufficient intelligence, and the Lord Himself is before you to enlighten your intelligence more and more. Here is the book. This book, what is spoken by Lord Krsna, and Krsna is not different. Because Krsna, or the Lord, is on the absolute plane.” Prabhupada is explaining here that in this Kali yuga, Krsna has come to this planet in his form of books and service. We should take this opportunity very seriously as Krsna is the same as his words. In the Chaitanya Charitamrita the 26 qualities of a pure devotee are given, amongst one of them is full surrender to Krsna. Surrendering is nothing but accepting Krsna’s word without hesitation and with utmost faith. Thus all pure devotees are in association with Krsna, by following his word and chanting His names.
