The definition of principle is a fundamental truth or proposition that serves as the foundation for a system of belief or behavior or for a chain of reasoning. In simpler words, a basic truth which is the basis of a belief. The basic principle of Krishna Consciousness is explained in BG 6.30. Srila Prabhupada writes in the purport that, “A person in Kṛṣṇa consciousness certainly sees Lord Kṛṣṇa everywhere, and he sees everything in Kṛṣṇa. Such a person may appear to see all separate manifestations of the material nature, but in each and every instance he is conscious of Kṛṣṇa, knowing that everything is a manifestation of Kṛṣṇa’s energy. Nothing can exist without Kṛṣṇa, and Kṛṣṇa is the Lord of everything – this is the basic principle of Kṛṣṇa consciousness. Kṛṣṇa consciousness is the development of love of Kṛṣṇa – a position transcendental even to material liberation.” Srila Prabhupada explains two important points which are the basic principle of Krishna Consciousness: understanding that Krishna is the lord of everything, nothing can exist without Him, and developing love for Krishna. This is the basis of Krishna Consciousness. When one truly understands these points, then they will surrender to Krishna.
