Jnana vs. Vijnana: Jnana is knowledge and vijnana is realization. Srila Prabhupada explains this in a room conversation, “So jñāna means theoretical knowledge, and vijñāna means practical application.” Below are some examples of jnana and vijnana:

  • Jnana: Learning mathematics but not knowing how to apply the math to real world situations.

  • Vijnana: Learning mathematics and using it to solve real-life issues.

  • Jnana: Reading scriptures just to enjoy reading.

  • Vijnana: Reading scriptures and then applying the knowledge from the scriptures to real life.
